Terms of Service

Payments processed by: Paddle.com (Merchant of Record) — Paddle handles billing, VAT/tax, invoices, and appears on your bank statement. Your card details are held by Paddle, not by us.

1. What SubPlayer is

SubPlayer is a Windows desktop application that adds subtitles in your language while you watch movies. It translates existing subtitle files or generates subtitles from audio — entirely on your own computer. Only the Starter and PRO plans are paid; the free trial requires no card.

2. Subscription plans

Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance, automatically renew, and can be cancelled at any time. Prices displayed at checkout are final and include any applicable VAT (handled by Paddle). "Founder" promotional pricing, if shown, is locked for the subscriber for as long as their subscription remains active without interruption.

3. Cancellation

You can cancel at any time — no penalties, no questions asked.
Use the self-service link in your Paddle receipt email, or email us at info@getsubplayer.app.
After cancellation you keep full access until the end of the current paid period. You will not be charged again.

4. Refund policy

14-day money-back guarantee on your first payment — no questions asked.
Email info@getsubplayer.app within 14 days of purchase and we will issue a full refund via Paddle to your original payment method.

Renewal charges: if you forgot to cancel before a renewal, contact us within 7 days and we will refund the renewal charge as a goodwill gesture (one time per customer).

5. Fair use — PRO cloud translation

PRO subscriptions include cloud translation up to approximately 40 movies per month. This limit exists to keep the service affordable for everyone and to prevent resale or abuse. If you regularly need more, the Starter plan with your own Gemini API key offers unlimited use at no extra cost from us.

We will not suspend your account without warning. If you approach the limit, we will notify you first.

6. Licence & software updates

Your subscription grants a personal, non-transferable licence to use SubPlayer for as long as the subscription is active. Software updates are included at no extra charge. We reserve the right to change features with reasonable notice; if a change materially reduces the service you paid for, you may cancel for a pro-rated refund.

7. Privacy

Your video files never leave your computer. When cloud translation is used (PRO plan), only plain subtitle text is transmitted — no filenames, no metadata, no personal information. Subtitle text is not stored or used for AI training. See our full Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable use

SubPlayer is intended for watching media you have the right to watch — your own files, legally obtained content, language learning, or accessibility purposes. You are responsible for your use. Reselling or redistributing the service is not permitted.

9. Liability

The software is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect or incidental damages. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights under applicable EU law.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Lithuania (EU). Any disputes will be resolved in Lithuanian courts, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under your local law.
